Suburbanization in Germany – Current trends (book project)

URBAN AND METROPOLITAN REGIONS

Suburbanization in Germany has not been examined comprehensively and systematically since the late 1970s. It became highly topical again in the 1990s when increasing references were made to new trends in suburbanization. The new forms of suburbanization, their causes and the actors involved, as well as new concepts and forms of co-operation in urban regions are an expression of the changing image of suburbia. These new development and trends are discussed in this book.

Results:
The book is the first systematic and comprehensive discussion of the issue of suburbanization in Germany since the 1970s. It is concerned with current suburbanization trends in East and West Germany: from a theoretical point of view, with regard to specific aspects, using examples from selected urban reigons and from a prognostic and action-oriented perspective.
